About us
The Oldenburgisches Staatstheater covers a wide artistic spectrum. In the divisions of Opera, Concert, Drama, Ballet, Young State Theatre, Low German Drama, and Sparte 7 – which provides space for cross-disciplinary and experimental work – each season features over 30 premieres and more than 25 concerts.
The Project
Theatre on the Wunderline – Theatre for Young Audiences in the Northern Border Region of the Netherlands and Germany
How can theatre transcend borders, both literally and figuratively? In this project, the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater supports the reactivation of the Oldenburg–Groningen railway line with an artistic vision: reaching rural areas along the route, connecting educational spaces, and strengthening German–Dutch exchange. Together with Dutch ensembles, new forms of mobile, cross-border theatre are being developed. The Staatstheater gains experience in touring, while Dutch groups expand their repertoire and explore new venues.
