The Bielefeld Way: Transformation for Übermorgen – Reconnecting Culture

Change begins where vision and reality meet honestly. The stages and orchestras of the City of Bielefeld are determined to address the gap between their declared values – humanity, equality, participation and sustainability – and everyday working practice. Previous transformation projects have shown that isolated measures are not enough if underlying structures remain untouched. Real change requires a systemic approach embraced at every level – from leadership to staff. The programme now provides the necessary space to develop clear goals together with internal and external partners, to prepare resilient structures, and to build networks with other cultural institutions. The conviction is clear: sustainable transformation cannot succeed in isolation – it emerges through dialogue, collaboration, and a shared vision.
