Christoph Möllers:
Artistic Freedom and Institutions – The Concept of Artistic Freedom and Its Legal Limits
Art and cultural institutions are coming under increasing political and societal pressure — a point made clear by Christoph Möllers, Professor of Public Law and Legal Philosophy at Humboldt University of Berlin, in his online keynote. The long-standing, once taken-for-granted restraint on the part of politics is eroding, while internal conflicts over content, positioning and responsibility are becoming more acute. Möllers therefore argues for greater self-confidence, stronger networking, and — where necessary — a willingness on the part of institutions to pursue legal action and establish precedent.
